Here's a little insight about how our working together should progress. This is by no means written in stone. It can be and often is adjusted to meet the needs of the client. This is, of course, one of the benefits of not working with an agency.
The most important part of the project happens long before the first line of code is written. We'll discuss at length your business, your business goals, and what roles custom applications can play in helping you achieve those goals. We'll also discuss how you see your industry, it's future and your organizations role in it's future.
From there we'll develop a plan. We'll outline what your business needs now and in the future. We'll discuss how what applications we develop today will affect your business down the road. We'll establish metrics to determine our success with your project.
Next, during the development phase we'll communicate continuously so you are aware of the progress of the application. In many cases you'll be able to actually see progress online.
Finally, we'll deploy your application and monitor, monitor, monitor. We'll revisit our original goals, ensure we've met them and make adjustments as necessary. This isn't the end. Remember the metrics? Those won't be measurable immediately so we'll revisit the application after deployment to see where we stand.
I'm an application developer that lives in Florida but frequents Hampton Roads Virginia quite often. I stumbled upon development a little late in the game but I was immediately hooked. Previously, I served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman for the almost 8 years and continued in healthcare management after my discharge. It was there that I built my first application and haven't stopped since. So, my background is in business/healthcare administration and my passion is development.
The fervor I have for my individual clients is mirrored with my contract clients. I have two unique traits (from what I've seen) that set me apart from other sub-contractors. First, I understand & appreciate the fact that it's your business. Therefore, I understand the importance of deadlines, customer services and delivering what you promised when you promised. Second, I know my limitations. I don't over promise and under deliver. I won't tell you that I'm an expert at C++ when, in all honesty, I know nothing about the language. I won't tell you I can have something coded by tomorrow when I know I have two other projects on my table. It's your business, your customer and your reputation and I know what that's like.
Here's the run down of languages listed by proficiency.
My sub-contracting fees come in two flavors - hourly and per project. Should your prefer hourly the rate is $60/hour. My most popular and efficient is the per project rate. You'll get a quote and that's it. There's no guess work. However, should scope creep occur any additional charges will be discussed before I get started on any work. Once again, no surprises.
